References to be held to commemorate March 17 martyrs; Balochistan wide atrocities continue unabated – BRP
References will be held across Balochistan by Baloch Republican Party activists today on the occasion of March 17 to commemorate Baloch martyrs killed by the Pakistani forces during a massive military offensive and bombardment in Dera Bugti while a protest demonstration will be staged in Sweden.
State atrocities in Balochistan continue unabated; Enforced disappearances and recovery of bullet-riddled dead bodies of Baloch activists abducted by Pakistani forces continue with no halt. On March 17, 2005 Pakistani forces attacked Dera Bugti town and massively bombarded the civilian populace of the area.
The houses of Baloch civilians including the house of Shaheed Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti were completely demolished in the bombardment and at least seventy innocent Baloch people, majority of them women and children of the Hindu community of the area, were killed and more than two hundred people were injured.
Military operation in Dera Bugti was intensified after the March 17 offensive and Shaheed Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was martyred along with his comrades during a deadliest offensive on August 26, 2006. Entire population of the area, including the Hindu Baloch community, was forced to migrate from Dera Bugti where landmines were laid all over the area and sources of drinking waters were polluted with poisons.
Such offensives and war crimes in most parts of Balochistan particularly in Dera Bugti continue with full intensity and atrocities are committed by Pakistani forces on daily basis to continue the loot and plunder the natural resources of the area. Aggressive policies of the state have been in full swing in Balochistan but the Baloch nation always stood against them and struggled for its inalienable rights with bravery and courageous.
References will be held all over Balochistan to remember and pay tributes to those who have laid the precious sacrifices of their lives on March 17 while a protest demonstration will be staged in Sweden to attract the attention of international community toward injustices against Baloch people and to appeal them to pressurize the state of Pakistan to end its ongoing genocidal policies and illegal occupation of Balochistan.
